TranslatePress AI

TranslatePress AI allows you to instantly translate your website. Our system merges top-tier neural machine translation systems, providing site owners with an all-in-one solution for immediate, superior AI website translations.

Your content will be translated once (that’s what we count as a translated word), saved in your WordPress database and as long as the original content doesn’t change, TranslatePress will serve that translation directly from the database.
This means the translation engine is only accessed once for a unique piece of content.

Availability:

  • all new premium license purchases after 21’st May 2024 will receive translation words according to their license type.
  • all renewals after 21’st May 2024 will receive translation words according to their license type.
  • existing active licenses that expire before  21’st May 2025 will not receive translation words but can purchase extra words separately.
  • translation words do not have an expiration date and can be used for as long as the license is active.
  • translation words can not be used with an expired license.

Plugin Settings

TranslatePress AI can be activated from WordPress -> Settings -> TranslatePress -> Automatic Translation.

If you don’t have a paid license active, please visit WordPress -> Settings -> TranslatePress -> License and activate it. Your license can be found over at https://translatepress.com/account/

Once activated correctly, your website will automatically be translated in the languages defined in WordPress -> Settings -> TranslatePress.

Account Settings

The account page over at https://translatepress.com/account allows allocation of available words differently for each website you have active for that particular license. For example, you can allocate 10,000 words for a particular website, but leave another to use all the available words that a license has access to.

If you don’t want a particular website to receive automatic translations, you can simply limit that website to 0 (zero) words. Of course, Automatic Translation should be disabled in the Plugin settings, but in case the end user of that website enables it, setting 0 words on that website ensures it doesn’t consume translation words if you specifically do not want it to.

Note: If a certain website linked to your license does not appear in the TranslatePress AI Quota allocation table, it means it wasn’t synced and you need to click the “Sync Site” link under “Actions” from the list of websites.

Purchasing extra translation words

All active licenses can purchase extra translation words. This can be done from the https://translatepress.com/account page. Navigate to the Downloads tab and click “Add Extra AI Words” dropdown to select a package and proceed to checkout.

TranslatePress AI FAQ’s

Here’s a list of your frequently asked questions about TranslatePress AI and their answers:

What's the difference between other translation engines and TranslatePress AI?

1. Word Calculation: TranslatePress AI calculates words based on a unique 1:5 character ratio, allowing for more precise and flexible word count usage.

2. Word Allocation: You can easily allocate words to individual websites, granting better control over translation word counts.

3. Ease of Use: In contrast to managing API keys in other services like Google, TranslatePress AI is user-friendly and integrated into your existing setup, simplifying the translation process.

4. Simplified Translation Process: TranslatePress AI revolutionizes its automatic translation process by eliminating the need to constantly switch between DeepL and Google API for each language. This streamlined approach saves time and effort.

5. Included with Existing Licenses: TranslatePress AI is included with existing TranslatePress licenses, making it a comprehensive translation solution that comes at no extra cost. Unlike separate API services like Google or Deepl, which charge per use, TranslatePress AI is part of your subscription package, simplifying your translation workflow and eliminating additional expenses.

What about customers who still want to use Google/DeepL instead of the TP AI?

We highly recommend TranslatePress AI for translations over DeepL, as it offers superior control over the number of translation words per website, enabling efficient management and avoiding unexpected costs. Unlike DeepL, which limits you to a single API key, TranslatePress AI provides a more flexible and customizable approach to meet your specific needs, allowing you to switch to DeepL seamlessly if needed -- after consuming the characters available through TranslatePress AI, for example.

What will happen with the translations that were made using other engines rather than TP AI?

When using TranslatePress AI, rest assured that any translations made with other engines (like DeepL or Google Translate) will remain intact in your database. These existing translations will not be re-translated and will continue to function as before, preserving your previous work and ensuring no disruption.
If you choose to switch to TranslatePress AI for future translations, it will only apply to new content, allowing you to seamlessly integrate the new tool into your workflow without losing any of your existing translations.

Will unused words be retained for next year as well as new ones received with renewal?

Unused translation words will be carried over to the next year, ensuring you don't lose any unused word count. Upon subscription renewal, you'll receive a fresh allocation of translation words for the upcoming year, providing greater flexibility and value over time.

What about the customers who not received extra words in their account?

To clarify, here is how the distribution of translation words works:

- New Purchases & Renewals: Starting May 21, 2024, new premium license purchases and renewals will receive translation words according to their license type.

- Existing Licenses: A license that expire before May 21, 2025, will not include additional translation words, but these can be purchased separately if needed.

- No Expiration: The provided translation words do not expire and can be used as long as the license remains active.

- Expired Licenses: Translation words are not usable with an expired license.

How & when does TranslatePress AI translates content?

TranslatePress AI generates translations on the front-end, triggered by a user accessing a page, category, or blog post in a secondary language. Here’s a step-by-step explanation of how it works:

Content Addition: When new content is added on your website, it's initially stored in the primary language.

Translation Trigger: The translation process begins when a user visits this content in a secondary language, with TranslatePress AI creating a dynamic translation in real-time.

Storage: Once generated, the translated content is stored in the database, ensuring it's always up-to-date and doesn't require re-translation for future visits, resulting in improved efficiency and load times.

This approach eliminates the need for pre-translation of all content, saving time and resources.

What about TP AI data privacy?

Our TranslatePress AI model is based on both Google and DeepL translation engines. We essentially forward your content to these engines, depending on the primary language used on your website. By default, we use DeepL, and if not supported, we switch to Google. As a conduit between users and translation services, we don't capture or store personal data. Your data is not used for AI model training, and we don't save or access translation data. While caching temporarily stores translated strings on our servers, this is unrelated to your license or website. Our goal is to provide efficient translations, but note that we have no control over or visibility into third-party translation engines' privacy and data handling policies, which can be reviewed on their respective websites.
